Open Nets offer minimum resistance to wind and water, making them more seaworthy in heavy weather. The larger the net
relative to the size of the boat, the more importaint this becomes. The trade off of course is that the more open the
nets become the less comfortable they are, especially on bare skin.
Open Nets can be found in 4 construction types; Knotted, Knitted, Twisted or Braided. With Knotted and Knitted
nets there is a loss of strength at the intersection, but not with Twisted or Braided nets.
Because the fibers run straighter in the Twisted and Braided types these nets will also have
less elasticity or stretch than the Knotted or Knitted nets. Knitted, Twisted, and Braided
are without knots and would be more comfortable than the knotted type.
Open Nets are finished similar to Mesh Nets with sewn reinforced borders. Open Nets with larger holes, the Ultra Pro 1-1/2"
and Dyneema 1" can also be made with Rope Borders. These nets work well in areas that need more openness
like trimaran bow nets and offshore Catamarans with larger net areas, or any area where a more open net is desired.

Offshore

The Offshore Net is designed for cruising multihulls that need a comfortable net that can shed water quickly.
This netting is similar to the Coated Polyester Mesh, with small 1cm sized holes, yet twice as strong with better openness.
Made from Knitted Polyester the Offshore is more elastic than most other nets. With elastic nets like this, we undercut
and prestretch the netting, to fit to the non-elastic borders so that the nets will tighten up to the desired
finish size wtih a minimal amount of deflection under load. This results in a net with more of a bouncy feel than
other nets with less elasticity, but one that is easier on knees and elbows. We apply our pigmented Vinyl coating
to the Offshore net for UV resistance and a non-fading color choice. the Offshore Net is the perfect compromise
between strength, openness and comfort for many boats. |

Light Duty

A good lightweight safety net for smaller areas that will not get much traffic, and need an extremely open net.
The Light Duty has 3/4" holes (hole sizes are measured parallel and
perpindicular to the cords which run diagonally across the net)
and is made of Knitted Nylon with our vinyl coating applied. The
nylon fibers give this net a stretchy feel but also help absorb more
of the stress to prevent breakage. |

Ultra Pro

The Ultra Pro is an extremely open 2 strand Twisted Polyester Net. Twisted Nets are
stronger with less stretch than Knitted or Knotted Polyester and Nylon nets of the same weight. Extremely open nets will
present very little resistance to wind or water, however they are not as comfortable as nets with lower openness ratings.
We offer this netting with or without Vinyl Coating, however the coating not only offers
significant UV protection and a non-fading color, it also helps bind the strands toghther to prevent fraying as the
net ages and wears. We can make the Ultra Pro with sewn reinforcded borders or with rope borders. |

Dyneema
1" hole Open Net

Dyneema is an incredably strong, lightweight fiber with the lowest stretch of any of the open nets. This net is 3 times stronger
than the Offhsore or the Ultra Pro, and 7 times stronger than the Light Duty. The Dyneema 1" net has an oppennes slightly less than
the Ultra Pro and slightly greater than the Offshore. It is constructed with a 4 strand Braid which
resists fraying or unravaling if broken and has no loss of strength in the intersections. The Dyneema net is coated with a semi
translucent grey urethane coating, similar to that used on Dyneema ropes, that can fade to a more golden color with exposure.
While not as effective as the Vinyl Coating offered on our Polyester and Nylon nets this thinner coating does offer a significant
imporvement over uncoated fibers. |

Black Dyneema

Black Dyneema has the same strength and low stretch of regular Dyneema however it has black pigments inpregnated into the fibers.
This gives the netting a non-fading color and better UV resistance.
